IMPORTANT Changes in Your Pharmacy Coverage We are changing how you get prescription drugs and other pharmacy items with the Kansas Medical Card. If you also have private health insurance there are new rules to follow. Pharmacy items must be billed to your other insurance first – before the Kansas Medical Card. We may only pay the charge that is left after your other health insurance has paid or denied the service. You may still need to pay KMAP copayments. These changes will start on January 12, 2009. The pharmacy may need extra time to fill your prescription because of these changes. Here are some tips to help you avoid problems when you fill a prescription. · You must follow the rules of your other private health insurance plan. Use providers that are in your private health insurance network and also accept the Kansas Medical Card. · Talk with your pharmacy before receiving any services to make sure KMAP will pay after your private health insurance. · Carry both your Kansas Medical Card and your private health insurance card with you at all times. Present both cards to your pharmacy when you pick up your prescription. · If you are with a Managed Care Organization (Unicare Health Plan of Kansas or Children’s Mercy Family Health Partners), present this card to your pharmacy too. · Make sure we have current information about your private health insurance. You must tell us about any changes in your private health insurance. If our records are not up to date, you will have problems when you fill a prescription. · Check your record or report a change by using one of these features: Call ROSIE, the automated attendant at 1-800-766-9012. Using your secure log in and PIN, ROSIE can provide information about your account anytime. Or, you can speak to a live agent during business hours (7:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday).
